AREAS AFFECTED: Coastal Rockingham
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Statement, Splashover may occur with the overnight high tide. For the Coastal Flood Warning, Minor coastal flooding impacts expected due to a large ocean storm for the Monday afternoon high tide. * WHERE...Coastal Rockingham County. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Statement, until 4 AM EST early this morning. For the Coastal Flood Warning, from 1 PM this afternoon to 6 PM EST this evening. * TIDAL FLOOD IMPACTS...High water levels can be expected. * WAVE IMPACTS... Minor beach erosion or minor splash-over is possible.. * TIDAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Water levels just above flood stage will result in 1 to 2 feet of inundation in the most flood-prone locations. * WAVE IMPACTS...Significant nearshore waves of 10-15 feet will result in significant beach erosion...splash over...and the lofting of rocks and ice onto shoreline roads.
INSTRUCTION: Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.

A fractus cloud (scud) is a fragmented, tattered cloud which has
likely been sheared off of another cloud. They are accessory clouds, meaning they
develop from parent clouds, and are named in a way which describes the original
cloud which contained them.
Fractus clouds which have originated from cumulus clouds are referred to as
cumulus fractus, while fractus clouds which have originated from stratus clouds
are referred to as stratus fractus. Under certain conditions a fractus cloud might
merge with another cloud, or develop into a cumulus cloud, but usually a
fractus cloud seen by itself will dissipate rapidly.
They are often observed on the leading and trailing edges of storm clouds,
and are a display of wind activity.

Graupel is a form of precipitation that is created by atmospheric conditions
which cause supercooled water droplets to contact snow crystals and freeze to
their surface.
Sometimes known as soft hail or snow pellets, graupel is delicate and easily
destroyed by touch. Whereas hail usually falls during severe weather, graupel
doesn't require such conditions to form, and can form in mild precipitation
similar to situations which produce snowfall.
