AREAS AFFECTED: Western Siskiyou County
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Snow expected above 4000 feet. Total snow accumulations 4 to 8 inches, except up to 14 inches above 5000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph over high and exposed terrain. * WHERE...Western Siskiyou County above 4000 feet. This also includes Etna Summit on Sawyers Bar Rd at 5950 ft. * WHEN...From 8 PM Wednesday to 11 AM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel may be difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Gusty winds combined with snow may cause limited visibility. Use extra care if traveling through remote or isolated areas.
INSTRUCTION: Slow down and use caution while traveling. Call 511 or visit quickmap.dot.ca.gov for road information.

The final form taken by a growing cumulus cloud is the
cumulonimbus cloud, which is very tall and dense.
The tower of a cumulonimbus cloud can soar 23 km into the atmosphere, although
most commonly they stop growing at an altitude of 6 km.
Even small cumulonimbus clouds appear very large in comparison to other cloud types.
They can signal the approach of stormy weather, such as thunderstorms or blizzards.

Drizzle is precipitation in the form of water droplets which are
smaller than raindrops.
Drizzle is characterized by fine, gently falling droplets and typically does not
impact human habitation in a negative way. The exception to this is freezing drizzle,
a condition where drizzle freezes immediately upon reaching earth's surface.
Freezing drizzle is still less dangerous than freezing rain, but can
potentially result in hazardous road conditions.
