Yakima River at Kiona affecting Benton County. ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Washington... Naches River near Naches affecting Yakima County. For the Yakima River...including Horlick, Umtanum, Parker, Kiona... Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Yakima River at Kiona. * WHEN...Until tomorrow morning. * IMPACTS...At 13.0 feet, There will be minor flooding of pastures and roads adjacent to the river...especially in low lying areas of West Richland. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 4:30 PM PDT Monday the stage was 13.2 feet. - Bankfull stage is 11.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 4:30 PM PDT Monday was 13.4 feet. - Forecast...The river will rise to 13.3 feet late this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after early Tuesday morning to 10.9 feet early Thursday morning. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 13.3 feet on 04/03/2011. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Evaporation is the transformation of liquid into gas, and it happens because
molecules are excited by the application of energy and turn into vapor.
In order for water to evaporate it has to be on the surface of a body of water.

A fractus cloud (scud) is a fragmented, tattered cloud which has
likely been sheared off of another cloud. They are accessory clouds, meaning they
develop from parent clouds, and are named in a way which describes the original
cloud which contained them.
Fractus clouds which have originated from cumulus clouds are referred to as
cumulus fractus, while fractus clouds which have originated from stratus clouds
are referred to as stratus fractus. Under certain conditions a fractus cloud might
merge with another cloud, or develop into a cumulus cloud, but usually a
fractus cloud seen by itself will dissipate rapidly.
They are often observed on the leading and trailing edges of storm clouds,
and are a display of wind activity.
