AREAS AFFECTED: Forsyth; Guilford; Davidson; Randolph
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...For the Heat Advisory, heat index values of 103 to 105 expected. For the Extreme Heat Watch, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values of 105 to 110 possible. * WHERE...Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, and Randolph Counties. * WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, from 11 AM this morning to 10 AM EDT Tuesday. For the Extreme Heat Watch, from Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening. * IMPACTS...Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
INSTRUCTION: Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

Stratus clouds are similar to altostratus clouds, but form at a
lower altitude and are identified by their fog-like appearance, lacking the
distinguishing features of most clouds.
Stratus clouds are wider than most clouds, and their base has a smooth, uniform
look which is lighter in color than a nimbostratus cloud.
The presence of a stratus cloud indicates the possibility of minor precipitation,
such as drizzle, but heavier precipitation does not typically arrive in the form
of a stratus cloud.

Similar to cirrocumulus clouds, altocumulus clouds are
characterized by cloud patches. They are distinguished by larger cloudlets
than cirrocumulus clouds but are still smaller than stratocumulus clouds.
Altocumulus clouds most commonly form in middle altitudes (between 2 and 5 km)
and may resemble, at times, the shape of a flying saucer.
These uncommon formations, called altocumulus lenticularis, are created by uplift
in the atmosphere and are most often seen in close proximity to mountains.
