DESCRIPTION: ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Minnesota... Minnesota River at Morton affecting Redwood and Renville Counties. Minnesota River at Montevideo affecting Chippewa, Lac qui Parle and Yellow Medicine Counties. .Recent rainfall has lead to river rises in the Minnesota River. As yesterday's rain fell mostly to the east of the basin, only two minor flood points are forecast and they are already in minor. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Minnesota River at Morton. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 23.0 feet, Riverside Rd and Front Street flooded in North Redwood. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 800 PM CDT Tuesday, the stage was 21.8 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 800 PM CDT Tuesday was 21.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 22.4 feet early Thursday morning. - Flood stage is 21.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 22.2 feet on 05/02/2006.
INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Graupel is a form of precipitation that is created by atmospheric conditions
which cause supercooled water droplets to contact snow crystals and freeze to
their surface.
Sometimes known as soft hail or snow pellets, graupel is delicate and easily
destroyed by touch. Whereas hail usually falls during severe weather, graupel
doesn't require such conditions to form, and can form in mild precipitation
similar to situations which produce snowfall.

A hole punch cloud is an unusual occurrence when a disk-shaped
hole appears in a cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, or altocumulus cloud.
When part of the cloud forms ice crystals, water droplets in the surrounding area
of the cloud evaporate. The effect of this process produces a large elliptical
gap in the cloud. The hole punch cloud formation is rare, but it is not specific
to any geographic area.
Other names which have been used to describe this phenomena include fallstreak hole,
skypunch, and cloud hole.
